

Leigh Rees Artist
Leigh relocated from Brunswick Heads, NSW, to Melbourne in 2021. She is a founding member of the Portrait Artists of Melbourne & Victoria. Leigh is a member of the Victorian Art Society and of the Hawthorn Art Society (HAS). She is the editor of the Melbourne Women Painters and Sculptors Association Newsletter and a committee member.

​In 2022, she was thrilled to be a finalist in the Lester National Portraiture Competition, Perth, Australia, with her portrait of 'Jinesh'.

Leigh has been a finalist also in the Smallacombe Self-Portrait Prize Adelaide in 2024 with 'One of Those Days', and in 2025 with 'Looking at Myself'.
My Story
In the Northern Rivers NSW, Leigh studied under artist and ex-Julian Ashton teacher Ben Smith in Classical Portraiture Painting; and professional artist and teacher Dale Rhodes (Byron School of Art) in Portrait Drawing and oil painting.
In Melbourne, she attended VAS (Victorian Art Society) classes with teacher, Greg Smith to study Alla Prima Oil Painting.
Leigh has also completed a French Academy Drawing course in Classical Portrait Drawing.
